AI Supermarket Flyer: Weekly Circular Prompts That Leave Prices Empty

A weekly supermarket flyer is a dated product grid, not a poster with one hero. Generate the layout and grocery photography first. Leave price, date, and store-name boxes empty. Overlay verified numbers in an editor. Do not let the model invent “50% off this week.” In Japanese retail the same object is a チラシ: a dense circular shoppers keep on the fridge. OpenAI launched ChatGPT Images 2.5 on September 8, 2026, and said it handles more complex layouts and short text more reliably. FreeGPTImg is a GPT Image 2 workspace: 20 daily free credits, no credit card required. Japan’s Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations still treats fake dual prices as a problem. Overlay real offers. Never generate a “was / now” pair you cannot prove.

Draft the grid in FreeGPTImg. Use the supermarket flyer design tool for a bright weekly circular, or the surreal supermarket flyer tool only when the brief is campaign art, not a price list. Stay on GPT Image 2 for the loop in front of you, invent the first scene in AI text-to-image, keep SKUs honest in AI product photography, recrop a hero tile into AI social media ads, and move a single-item blowup to the AI poster generator instead of stuffing twenty SKUs onto a window poster.

What a weekly circular actually does

A weekly circular is a shopping list with pictures. People scan it in two seconds on a mailbox, counter, LINE story, or fridge magnet. They look for this week’s produce, a meat or fish lead, and a date range. If the peaches look like another variety, or the page already shouts a price you do not sell, the flyer is a liability.

A poster sells one idea at arm’s length. A menu sells dishes you cook. A supermarket circular sells many SKUs you actually stock, for a named week, at prices a manager signed. The model is good at crates, lighting, empty rectangles, and a loud retail hierarchy. It is not your POS system. ChatGPT Images 2.5 can keep a layout while you change one object. That is useful for swapping the hero fruit. It is not permission to invent a member price.

Do not prompt real chain marks. Walmart, Costco, Tesco, イオン, 西友, ライフ, and other registered wordmarks are not yours to clone. Do not ask for USDA Organic, JAS, or “official government sale” seals. Do not drop celebrity chefs or copyrighted mascots onto the produce wall.

Pick one circular job before you generate

Weak circulars fail because they ask for twelve SKUs, a coupon, a map, a mascot, and a “50% OFF” burst in one pass. Name the slot first.

Job Start from Change one thing Keep Wrong move
Weekly produce lead One crate or basket as the hero The fruit or vegetable of the week Empty headline band and empty price cells Readable invented yen or dollar amounts
Protein weekend special One cut of meat or fish, honest color The cut and garnish only Store-neutral background, empty offer box Fake “A5” or “wild-caught” seals
Dairy and bakery strip A short row of 3–4 items Item count in that row Even gutters, same lighting A second brand’s packaging copied from memory
Neighborhood market チラシ A4 or B4 portrait grid Density of empty SKU tiles Large date-range box, no chain logo Cloning イオン or 西友 layout marks
Digital story crop The same offer, fewer tiles Aspect ratio only The same hero product Stretching a tabloid into a 9:16 story
Campaign / surreal teaser One impossible grocery scene Art direction only Still-empty price boxes Using the teaser as the legal price list

A circular is not an Amazon main image. For most Amazon categories the main image must be a realistic photo of the actual product, typically on pure white, with no extra graphics. Listing heroes, weekly flyers, and social crops are three exports. Overlay real words later. Names, URLs, prices, and “今週限り” never belong in the generator if they must be exact.

Weekly circular workflow

Use the same sequence in the supermarket flyer tools, a GPT Image 2 tab, or ChatGPT Images 2.5.

  1. Write the week in five lines. Store type (independent grocer, not a named chain), paper size, hero category, how many empty SKU cells, date-range box location. If you cannot say it in five lines, the page will clutter.
  2. Choose one hero, not twelve. Peaches, salmon, or milk. Extra items live in empty rectangles you fill after generation.
  3. Lock empty type zones. Headline band at the top. Date range under it. Price cells on each tile. Store-name footer. Ask for no readable numbers.
  4. Write keep / change / do-not. Keep the grid and the hero product. Change only lighting or one SKU if you iterate. Do not add logos, seals, coupons, QR codes, or extra products.
  5. Match the paper. A4 or B4 portrait for many Japanese チラシ. US letter or 11×17 tabloid for North American weekly inserts. Do not stretch one square into both jobs.
  6. Inspect the food before the layout. Wrong leaf color, extra fruit varieties, or plastic brand marks you did not stock are stop conditions.
  7. Overlay prices last. In an editor, set the real sale, the real compare-at only if you have a lawful basis, and the real store name.
  8. Test at print distance. Hold the page at arm’s length. If the empty boxes collapsed, regenerate with larger gutters. Do not ship a story crop as a mailbox insert.

OpenAI’s Images 2.5 notes still help if you never open ChatGPT: keep the subject, edit one element, expect earlier choices to survive later turns. That is a circular rule. Swap the hero fruit. Do not redraw the whole aisle.

Prompt formula

Weekly supermarket circular, not a poster and not a price list.
Store type: independent [neighborhood grocer / produce stand / fish market]. No chain logos.
Paper: [A4 portrait / B4 portrait / US letter / 11x17 tabloid].
Hero: one [produce crate / protein cut / bakery group], appetizing daylight, honest color.
Grid: [6 or 8] empty rectangular SKU cells with even gutters.
Keep: empty headline band, empty date-range box, empty price cells, empty store-name footer.
Change only: the hero food and lighting.
Text in image: none. No prices, percentages, dates, QR codes, or “was/now” pairs.
Do not add: supermarket chain marks, organic seals, celebrity likenesses, extra SKUs, cluttered shelves.

Prompt examples

Neighborhood peach week. “Create an A4 portrait weekly grocery circular for an independent neighborhood market. Hero: one wooden crate of ripe yellow peaches with green leaves and daylight, lower two-thirds. Six empty rectangular SKU cells along the bottom third, even gutters. Large empty headline band at the top, empty date-range strip under it, empty store-name footer. Bright supermarket photography, peach / leaf green / kraft / cream. No readable prices, no farm logos, no organic seals, no extra fruit varieties, no chain wordmarks.”

Friday fish special. “B4 portrait チラシ concept for an independent fish counter. Hero: one skin-on salmon fillet on crushed ice, lemon wedge, natural cold light. Empty offer box on the right third. Four empty product tiles under the hero. No yen amounts, no ‘wild-caught’ badges, no supermarket chain marks, no extra species.”

Story crop of the same peach crate. “9:16 supermarket story frame. Same independent market, same peach crate as the only product. Empty headline band in the top fifth, empty price box in the lower fifth. No extra SKUs, no coupon burst, no QR code. Keep the fruit recognizable. Do not invent a sale.”

If the first pass fills the price cells with numbers, shorten the prompt. “No readable text. Empty white rectangles only.” Free retry exists on FreeGPTImg when a generation misses. Use it on the same five-line brief, not a new store.

Sizes you should not guess

Generate large. Crop in an editor. Recheck the printer or platform before you upload.

Use Typical canvas Notes
Japanese mailbox チラシ A4 (210×297 mm) or B4 (257×364 mm) portrait Dense grid, large date box, fold may hide the lower third
US weekly insert Letter or 11×17 tabloid More white space than a Japanese チラシ; still leave price cells empty
Counter half-sheet A5 or half-letter One hero, two empty tiles maximum
LINE / Instagram story 9:16 One hero. Do not import the full mailbox grid
Square social post 1:1 Recrop the hero crate only

A B4 page stuffed into a story becomes unreadable. A story crop blown up to B4 looks empty. Build the print master first if the circular will hit mailboxes. Build the story second from the same hero, not the other way around.

Review the pixels before you print

Zoom to 100%. A thumbnail hides a fake seal.

  • Product honesty. The hero looks like the SKU you stock. No extra varieties, no swapped packaging.
  • Empty type. Headline, dates, prices, and store name are boxes, not generated lettering. A pretty “¥198” you did not approve is a bad ad.
  • Compare-at discipline. Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency treats misleading dual-price displays as a 景品表示法 problem. A “was” price needs a real recent selling basis. Overlay it only after a person checks. Do not ask the model for a crossed-out number.
  • Marks and seals. No chain logos, no copied private-label art, no organic or origin badges you cannot support.
  • Provenance. OpenAI still uses C2PA metadata and an invisible watermark on GPT Image outputs. Downstream apps may keep, strip, or flag that data. A prettier peach is not a license to a real farm’s mark.

Limitations you should not skip

A circular concept is not a print RIP, not legal clearance, and not a POS export. Do not upload another grocer’s チラシ “for the style.” Do not prompt a celebrity, a copyrighted mascot, or a chain’s weekly template. If a platform requires AI disclosure, follow that policy.

ChatGPT Images 2.5 is not GPT Image 2. Better layouts in Images 2.5 are a ChatGPT and API story, not a promise that every FreeGPTImg download is print-imposed CMYK. On FreeGPTImg you are in a GPT Image 2 loop with the supermarket flyer tools. Write the model you used into the file name.

The vibrant flyer tool is for a readable weekly grid. The surreal flyer tool is for campaign atmosphere. Do not mix them in one file and call it the legal insert. Photoreal white-background catalog shots belong in product photography tools. A marketplace MAIN image is a different job.

FAQ

What is an AI supermarket flyer generator?

It is a weekly-circular workflow: one grocery hero, a product grid, empty price and date boxes, then real numbers overlaid later. FreeGPTImg includes supermarket flyer tools on GPT Image 2, with 20 daily free credits and no credit card required.

Should the model write the prices?

No. Leave rectangles. Overlay yen or dollars you can stand behind. Japan’s dual-price rules and ordinary truthful-advertising rules both punish a pretty number that is not the offer.

Can I copy a national chain’s チラシ layout?

No. Do not prompt イオン, 西友, Walmart, Costco, or other chain marks, mascots, or distinctive weekly templates. Describe an independent market and original geometry.

A4 or B4 — which should I generate first?

If the circular will be a Japanese mailbox チラシ, start portrait A4 or B4. If it is a US insert, start letter or tabloid. Make the story crop second from the same hero.

Can I use this image as an Amazon main image?

Usually no. For most categories the main image must be a realistic photo of the actual product, typically on a pure white background, without lifestyle props, frames, or extra graphics. Keep the circular for print and social. Shoot or generate a separate white-background hero for the listing.

Why did the model fill every tile with extra fruit?

The prompt asked for “a full supermarket” instead of one hero plus empty cells. Shorten it. Repeat the five-line brief. Generate again. If prices still appear, say “no readable text, empty white rectangles only.”
